The music industry - Love Interest or Scum Bucket???
Haha, yepp. Grades go up to A* so my other 2 were higher than that one. :')
Glad you like KB :D
Seems as though you're having like a million thoughts at once haha.
But if a band is, like, getting more in the public eye through their own independant work, eg Glamour Of The Kill, labels take notice and decide, yeah, they're not such a risk after all. Some bands give in (GOTK), others don't.
MEHH! I love good music and that artist gets my support whether they're commercial or not, signed or not, I don't care. But if they're after the fame and whatnot, changing up their sound so they're more in the public eye... Forget it. It might sound alright but that's just not the type of band I want to listen to. Natural progression, fair enough, I can deal with that.
Omg. Completely off-topic right, but I noticed the "for the Reason" on the Edit Note and it just made me laugh. :') |

That's good to hear :D
And yess, Brad's drumming is the shit. Methinks he'd be happy to hear that because everyone's always going on about how amazing Dan's vocals are. Buuuut as usual, props go to Dan for writing all the music. XD
Don't wanna wait til May for the new EP though :( |

i like these guys - awesome vox. best: "The way it goes".
The "A"'s your lowest mark??? That's crazy!!!
And, ya, it's tough for unsigned bands to get moving without backing so when a label throws you some money and you don't have to work the day job anymore, and you can tour the world...ah, man, what's tougher?...lol. still, i don't understand why a label would sign a band based on the potential if they changed and became what every other band is already. if you see a band you like, they're already capable of catching your attention, right? it's easier to ride the current, i guess, than pioneer a scene??? I don't know, i'm tired of all the scum that won't leave the party! The industry can thrive without them. change, really, is ok...in Toronto, there's great support for indie bands but the bands "they" support are all the same...it's like a club you have to be part of. All the true, great Toronto bands don't get a fair chance because fuckin' Vampire Weekend is playing down the road...(although T.O.'s great for that). mostly, as soon as the music "illuminati" get a hold of them, i lose interest...
Sorry, i can go on and on and i'd probably contradict myself a million times but i'm with you, there's enough great true indie music out there that we're all free to love at our own expense...
alright, feel free to cut me up, anyone...later
P.S. - Madii's back!! |

If any band makes my life, it's these guys. They are ridiculously awesome. Vocally especially. They're from, like, the Don Broco, Young Guns, We Are The Ocean scene, I s'pose but different. xD

Touring the UK in April/May. New EP out in May, methinks.
First heard them when they did an acoustic session on K! Radio last year and now I'm, like, their official stalker. :')
Never play Birmingham on their tours though... NO, IT IS NOT BECAUSE OF ME. XD Tommy said it's the lack of promotors :'(
Show them some love, will yeh? (: |

The music industry - Love Interest or Scum Bucket???
Hi guys (: Yes, I am back. :D
/Queue essay
Erm, with music I just don't tend to pay attention to bands that are, like, huge. It seems to me that most of them are doing the same thing and it gets a bit boring so basically, a load of mush. I don't hate the mush, I just have better elsewhere. For example, I love, erm, All Time Low but I don't own any of their music or merch because tbh, they're a typical pop-punk band. On the other hand, I'll soon have 5 Proceed t-shirts and 3 of their EPs because they're a bit different, completely DIY and reeaally good at what they do.
I get a bit bummed when really good bands, doing their own thing build up their fanbase and suddenly, they give in to a major record company. My main source of music is the Kerrang! Unsigned show and I get a good mix of stuff from there and it's all just really good. Then there's bands who are friends of bands too. I also love the local bands because there's the metal bands, the singer/songwriters, punk rock bands, alt. acoustic bands etc. It's all gooood. :D
I don’t really pay attention to the charts although I can’t help but feel that relatively smug feeling when some huge commercial star is knocked off the top spot by someone more worthy, eg, when RATM topped the charts in December muwahahaha.
These are awesome: http://www.myspace.com/kidnapperbell
Btw, I like the song from the link above ;)
/End essay Whoops. I actually did my English pres. on this haha. Got an A, was my lowest mark though. D: |
